Transamerica Retirement Solutions, a leader in the retirement benefits marketplace, has an excellent opportunity for an ERISA attorney. As a member of a nationwide legal team, the incumbent will be a a subject matter expert in ERISA. This position is expected to function with little supervision. Problems encountered are relatively complex with facts that are occasionally in question--for which legal judgment and experience is required. Specific responsibilities include:
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Draft IRS pre-approved plan documents and individually designed plans, (IDPs) as well as SPDs, participant notices, and other disclosure notices.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Draft and review contracts.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Research proposed and existing legislation affecting the company and advises departments concerned.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Give legal advice with respect to administration of retirement plans.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Guardagainst legal risks involving the company.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Participate in legal actions for and against the company of a significant nature.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Consult/advise on plan compliance matters, including the use of EPCRs, VFCP, and other plan administrative correction programs, as well as plan document restatements and amendments.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Advise on changes in laws and regulations.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Retain and direct outside counsel independently.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Other responsibilities as assigned.
JD degree required. State bar admission. 5-8 years of experience required, with a minimum of 2-3 years working with ERISA.
The preferred location for this position is our Harrison New York office. If individual is not working from this office, travel will be required to attend meetings and work on project teams.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
